Experience of using of the modified anchoring technique of stenting of ostium lesions of the arteries of the head and neck
Abstract
Objective – to achieve an accurate positioning, to reduce the risk of stent malposition and development of complications during stenting of the ostium stenosis of the arteries of the head and neck.
Materials and methods. Twelve patients with ostium stenosis of the arteries of the head and neck (in 4 cases – vertebral arteries, in 1 case – the right subclavian artery, in 3 cases – left subclavian artery, in 4 cases – common carotid artery) were operated by stenting with usage of a modified anchor technique in endovascular center of Dnipropetrovsk Regional Clinical Hospital named after I.I. Mechnikov during last 2 years.
Results. There were no cases of stent malposition or displacement proximally or distally during implantation, difficulties with stent positioning, crisscrossing of the wires, difficulties with delivery of the stent and with the removal of the anchor wirefrom the proximal stent cell after implantation. Stenoses are eliminated with the exact position of the stent from the ostium in the target segment of the artery of the head and neck. Good functional results are achieved in 100 % of cases.
Conclusions. The modified anchoring technique of stenting of the ostium lesions of the arteries of the head and neck allows to achieve optimal results of stenting.
